One of the Best Super Automatics Out There for the Price

I have the EAM3200 which is the previous model version. The differences are slight but noticeable to the newer. These machines are the best in class for price and performance produce a great espresso and are maintainable in ways that other manufacturers models are not. The coffee from the Delonghi is just as good as from Jura and even some manual models such as Expobar and Rancillo. It is very close to what you find in Italy - not quite but for the price it is worth it. Great crema hot temperature rich flavor. And the best part is you can pull out the brew mechanism and clean it - VERY key. This will ensure sound operation and function for many years.



In order to keep this machine is fine working order you need to do a bit of upkeep each week and use the right beans.



1. Only use non-oily 100% Arabica beans. If you use oily beans it will clog frequently and attract rancid flavors. It will also shorten the life of the machine. I use Illy but any espresso will do (I actually get the Illy dark roast - it has more flavor when brewing a larger "americano" cup).

2. Clean the brew mechanism once a week. Just snap it out and run it under hot water.

3. Use spring water instead of tap water. This will keep any weird flavors from your tap entering the coffee. It may build up minerals but...

4. De-calcify the machine when it asks for it - don't wait.



I for one would rather have manual controls over coffee amount strength etc. You are not losing out on anything by not having digital controls - other than not being able to have the machine automatically on and ready to go when you first wake up. As for the other models ability to do milk-based drinks at the touch of a button - how often do you really want a cappuccino? If it is every day then get the 3500. If you are like me and need real coffee in the morning then get this model. The milk canister can only sit in the fridge for so long. If you are planning to serve cappuccino at dinner parties then you are committing Italian heresy - cappuccino is only served in the morning.



CONS

1. The cup warmer does not work very well but get double walled cups and the temperature of the product will not be an issue.

2. You can't have it turn on automatically at a certain time. But it only takes a few minutes to get up to temperature.

3. It is NOISY.



My espresso settings - coffee amount at 10 o'clock strength at 3 o'clock single cup dispense. Super double espresso in an espresso cup. I may have 2 of these on a saturday.



My wife's "americano" settings - coffee amount at 3 o'clock strength at 3 o'clock double cup dispense. Full cup of rich coffee in a normal cup.

This machine is brilliant. The best espresso or cappuccino I've ever tasted and all in less than 2 minutes start to finish. The milk frother is a miracle--quick perfect instant cleanup. My wife and I have been wired out of our heads since it arrived. We can't stop drinking the stuff. We're giving Stieg Larsson's characters a run for their caffeinated money! The reason is that all the usual inhibitors are gone: the coffee's gone cold and acrid in the pot can't face the 20-minute production and cleanup for a cup of espresso etc. It's like the world's smartest drug dealers got together and designed this thing. Does what it's supposed to

I used this on an older dishwasher that already had a lot of rusting and after two coats it seems to be holding up. The only complaint I have is that I wish the paint was a little thicker so it could wrap around trouble spots a little better. Kit comes with a built in brush (like a nail polish bottle)and end caps. Wow saved buying a new washing machine:

I recently bought a used front load "super high effeciency" washing-machine and dryer set made by LG. I have an LG dishwasher and have been very impressed with how quiet and well it works.



When I first used the new washing machine it was reasonably quiet except for when spinning. It is up on 14 inch tall pedestals and when the spin cycle started it jumped all around. Also it was shaking my whole house making paintings even in non-adjacent rooms rattle on the wall.



My wife was afraid of it and refused to even do laundry. I assumed I was going to have to sell it again probably at a loss and buy something else. But first I convinced my wife to let me try a few things such as these feet.



I orderred these feet then while waiting I also put two 30 pound cat litter buckets on the washing machine this stopped it jumping around but it still shook the entire house.



Today these feet arrived they are really well designed. The box has two pair of feet a "sliding" pair for the back feet and a "sticky" pair for the front feet. You put the "sliding" pair under the back feet so you can then adjust the position before installing the front "sticky" pair. The result is your machine can't slide once setup. This alone is handy. Best of all they actually successfully damp the vibrations so that my wife didn't even hear the washing machine running spin cycle on the "high" speed when sitting down-stairs directly under it.



Alas they are not complete miracle workers. If I remove the two 30 pound cat litter buckets the washing machine starts bouncing up off the feet still and thus makes lots of noise. BUT with the extra 60lbs of weight and these feet what was once impossibly loud is now nearly silent and my house is once again stable no bouncing paintings or photos.

Cheaper than Sears

The price on this item appears to have gone up by about $20.00 in the last two weeks. These are the same exact filters sold by Sears for use in their high-end Kenmore Elite's (built by LG in 2005). I compared build quality part number and packaging. However when I purchased them they were about half the price compared to sears (I bought a two-pack).



Installation is via a simple twist-lock method. So if you are replacing the filter for the first time simply push and twist to remove and push and twit to install. Do not call Sears to do this. They charge a significant fee. For those who have a whole house water filtration system or an inline (to refrigerator) filtration system (I use a Culligan good water reverse osmosis) the filters should last TWICE as long at the least. I have had many people argue that I do not need a water filter at the refrigerator if I have another system in place. I disagree. I like the idea of a backup in case of equipment failure. Handy little basket

Like other reviewers said this turned out to be a bit narrower than I expected. Internal measurements are about 3" deep (top to bottom) X 8" long (end to end) but as you can see from the photo of it the end pieces slope inward at the bottom so the length at the bottom is more like 6". The significant (to me) measurement is front to back - less than 2".



I have a dishwasher that's made by Whirlpool. Neither it nor any other diswasher I've ever had requires this odd shape. I can only assume this basket is made to fit the rack of a specific and unusually shaped Whirlpool model rack.



The front and back walls of the basket warped inward slightly after a couple of wash cycles. Odd since it is intended to be in a hot dishwasher specifically but its ability to lock shut or hold small items isn't affected so I guess you'd call it just a cosmetic problem.



I sill like the basket but I do wish it were about 1" wider and 1" taller.More detail ...

Porcelain drip bowls for Whirlpool electric stoves

Having bought the Whirlpool stove 2.5 years ago I finally decided to replace the drip bowls which had long since deteriorated to a uncleanable level. I purchased the 6 and 8 inch bowls (look beautiful before use)and replaced the old marred and stained bowls. No sooner than I had cooked a simple vegetable (no spills) the new porcelain bowl became stained and chipped. Apparently the porcelain can not withstand the heat of an electric stove. Used this in a Kenmore fridge. worked fine

First time changing filter. Not sure if all do this but when i changed we had extremely high pressure. Im guessing it was acting like there wasnt a filter in at all. Caused water to keep flowing a bit (without pressing).



After that strangeness took about 6 pitchers to get airbubbles out of filter etc.





Kenmore and Whirlpool are the samer thing more or less. Works fine now its been in use.

Makes life so much easier!

I have a light-colored smooth top range and have tried a number of other products and it was hard work keeping the range clean. Once clean apply a VERY thin coat of the protectant and it's almost like wax for the car. Stuff still burns-on but comes off so much easier you'll be surprised. It lasts a long time and is well worth the money. Whirlpool also has a complete kit--Cleaner non-scratch scrub pads protectant and special applicator pad. I've read many reviews and reports and saw this fit my make and model refrigerator. Unfortunately it does not.

This does not fit a samsung rf267aabp. I'm sure it filters the water perfectly for those iceboxes it does fit.

Very effective...too effective?

We have a LOT of particulates in our water and this flter does a fantastic job. Unfortunately performance drops quickly reducing flow to an annoyingly slow drizzle. If you have a lot of particles and are not concerned with cysts etc you may want to downgrade to the 8171413 which is also effective with chlorine and lead reduction but seems to last far longer before flow is restricted.More detail ...

Simple maintenance for your fridge

You gotta hand it to Maytag - they made replacing the water filter very simple. Took all of about 30 seconds from start to finish. And about 20 seconds of that was wiping up the water that dripped out of the old filter when I pulled it out so the next change should go even better ;-)



We have a family of six and we drink water almost exclusively so I went ahead and changed the filter at six months just like the owner's guide recommended. However I could see no evidence that the filter was near its end of life and am convinced that I can get more use out of the filters than the suggested six months. I will try to keep an eye on things but without a little window I really have no way other than flow to know what is going on.



And that is why I gave this a rating of four stars. The filter seems to work wonderfully and replacement is a breeze but I would be happier if I could look at the state of the filter while it is in use.More detail ...

Good Filtration But...

We purchased a new Whirlpool refrigerator earlier this year. The new refrigerator has all the marvelous improvements developed in the last ten years for refrigerators including a water filter.



The water filter really does deliver better water. However the water filter seems quite expensive to me. Whirlpool and other manufacturer's that use this type of filter recommend the filter be replaced twice a year whether you need to replace the filter or not.



The filter is relatively easy to replace but be aware of what happens when you pull the filter. To remove the old filter you push a button next to the filter typically to the left of the filter. Then pull on the cap covering the filter and pull the filter out. Make a note of how the filter was oriented when you pull it out.



The filter will now begin dripping water so have a paper towel or small bowl available to let the water drip into. You can either let the filter finish dripping into a sink or throw it into a plastic bag that you can seal to keep the water from dripping out of the bag. Be sure you remove the cover from the filter before you toss it. On our Whirlpool the cover twists counterclockwise for removal.



Install the filter cover onto the new filter. It takes just a twist to lock it into place. Holding the filter so that the two straight pieces on the end of the filter are vertical with the open portion of the filter cover oriented on the bottom slide the new filter straight into the filter cavity until the button on the left clicks to let you know the new filter is locked into place. Note that these instructions are for a Whirlpool but I believe most other refrigerators are similar. You should be ready to go!



Had I known refrigerator water filters were so expensive I might have gone with a refrigerator without one though our local water has a lot of chlorine in it (which is filtered out by the filter).



As with many modern conveniences this water filter represents a convenience that you did not know you needed until you had it. Now that I have it I am wondering whether I want it since I have to spend a chunk of change each year in filter replacements. Oh well. I guess I can sleep more soundly knowing that the water filter is now removing a bunch of stuff from my water that my body either did not want or need.
